Mezzo Madness and Mayhem
Welp, the semester’s over and I have a lot more free time on my hands than I originally thought I would, so…..I’m thinking about doing some writing. I’ve had ideas for some arrangements. Now it’s time to put those ideas on paper. Who knows? Maybe one day I’ll get stuff published. That would be awesome. (Oh my God, that would be so awesome!!)
I think the biggest thing that has been holding me back is my fear of not being able to write good music the first time around. I know, it’s freaking insane to think this way. I’m fully aware of the fact that I’m holding myself to some unrealistic standard. So I have decided that it’s time for me to make an attempt to stop thinking this way though, cuz thinking this way has gotten me absolutely nowhere…..And dangit, I wanna go places. So, here I go. Wish me luck!
“Opera News magazine said it would stop reviewing the Metropolitan Opera, a policy prompted by the Met’s dissatisfaction over negative critiques…..”
Seriously, Met? Wow.
Note to the one student who manages to work my ever-lovin’ nerves each and every fucking Saturday afternoon: If your lesson is scheduled to begin at 12:30, DO NOT call me at 12:31 to ask me whether or not we have a lesson today, ESPECIALLY if I say to you at the fucking end of every blasted lesson “Ok, see you next week at 12:30.”
And another GD thing: If your lesson is scheduled from 12:30-1:00, do NOT show up at 12:50 and expect me to teach you until 1:20. Just don’t do it. Don’t. Fucking. Do. It.
I love how, at one point, she refers to it as “normalizing a non-normal situation”. So true!

I just read this interview with Vesselina Kasarova, and I have to say that it really does sadden me to see the high art of opera becoming more and more like that of Hollywood, Broadway, and pop singing. *sigh*
